WKU may not have climbed into the top 25 just yet, but the Lady Toppers have reached a milestone before any other team in the country.
The Lady Toppers climbed to No. 26 in the latest RPI poll after scoring two more conference wins over the weekend and became the first NCAA team to reach 25 wins this year.
“It’s just another really special accolade for this group,” Head Coach Travis Hudson said. “We’re the only team in the country that’s hit the 25-win mark at this point in the season. It just speaks to the special season we’ve had.”
WKU (25-3, 12-1 Sun Belt Conference) was No. 28 in the poll last week but rose two spots in the most recent poll, released on Monday.
The Lady Toppers also jumped one spot to No. 30 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll, also released on Monday, after being tied with Duke for No. 31 in last week’s poll.
A 2-0 record since last week’s poll helped the Lady Toppers rise. They beat Denver and North Texas in their final two home matches of the season.
WKU remains the highest-ranked Sun Belt team in both polls, as well as the only team in the conference to receive AVCA top 25 votes.
The Lady Toppers will return to action this weekend during a road trip to Alabama. They will take on South Alabama on Friday night and Troy on Saturday.
