First-year Head Baseball Coach Matt Myers has added

some pitching depth for the 2013 and 2014 seasons.

WJBD Radio reported Tuesday that Andrew Edwards, a

right-handed sophomore starting pitcher for Rend Lake College in

Ina, Ill., has committed to play for the Toppers.

Edwards, a former Marshall County High School

standout, is a 6-foot-5, 245 pounder whose fastball has reached 95

miles per hour, according to the report.

He told WJBD that Myers’ experience developing future

professional players was a determining factor in his decision to

sign with WKU.

“He talked about his past players moving on to the

next level,” Edwards said. “I knew that’s where I wanted to be and

who I wanted to play for.”

Edwards has one year left at Rend Lake.

The report said WKU offered Edwards a full tuition

scholarship, which he plans to use for studying public relations

and business.
