Former WKU player Ty Rogers announced via Twitter his first participant for the Big Red vs. Big Blue exhibition game on Oct. 25 at Diddle Arena  — former Kentucky star Josh Harrellson.

Tweeted Rogers: “Who all is coming to see @bigjorts55 at Diddle Arena on October 25th?? Retweet if you will be there! #clubmd #bigredvsbigblue”

Rogers later confirmed to the Herald that Harrellson has in fact agreed to play. Former WKU player Matt Maresca has also agreed to play, Rogers said.

Harrellson had a breakout senior season at UK and was drafted in the in the second round (No. 45 overall) by the New Orleans Hornets but was quickly traded to the New York Knicks.

Rogers said he plans to release participants “one day at a time” via Twitter and will be releasing information about the game itself soon.

The event itself is not affiliated with WKU in any way. Rogers said he’s handling it all by himself. He said he’s working with WKU Athletic Compliance to make sure nothing happens that shouldn’t happen.

Tickets will go on sale by Friday at the latest, and prices will be “just like a WKU game,” Rogers said.

However, students won’t get in free like they do at home games but could possibly get a discounted price.

All proceeds will go toward Sharp Shooters Academy — Rogers’ basketball academy — and the WKU W-Club.

“If all goes well, it’s going to be a huge event,” Rogers said. “It’s going to be very entertaining without a doubt.”
