WKU volleyball Head Coach Travis Hudson was awarded a Staff Excellence Award on Thursday at the university’s Fall Break Brunch.

Hudson, who has led the Lady Toppers to a 17-2 record this season, was one of four WKU staff members to receive the award.

The Staff Excellence Award is given out annually to staff members who demonstrate outstanding service to the university.

Nominations are given to WKU faculty members who display good character and conduct during their service at the school. Winners of the honor receive a bonus of $1,000.

Recipients of the Staff Excellence Awards are determined by a committee of university representatives.

Other award recipients were Pat Bodkin from the Office of the Bursar, Karen Wingo from Housing and Residence Life and Ben Spitler from Facilities Management.

Hudson, in his 17th year as Head Coach of the Lady Toppers, has led his team to three Sun Belt tournament championships and five NCAA tournament appearances in his time at WKU and is the winningest coach in WKU volleyball history.

The Lady Toppers are currently 4-1 in the Sun Belt and are ranked No. 26 in the country, the highest ranking ever for the WKU volleyball team.
