How They Fared: WKU Football Week Five

WKU nearly walked out of Smith Stadium on Saturday with its first home win since 2008, but a last-minute score by Arkansas State sent the Toppers to the locker room heartbroken. Nonetheless, it was a sign that the Toppers can hang with Sun Belt competition and play hard until the end.

The only thing that’s still not there is closing the deal, as Head Coach Willie Taggart said was still an issue against Arkansas State. He said the Toppers played “not to lose” rather than playing to win.

And until they finally win, I can’t bring myself to project this team to win any games. That being said, the outlook looks slightly better heading into a short game week against rival Middle Tennessee State.
