Recently added walk-on and local product Jay Starks got his first taste of the Hilltopper atmosphere Friday night at Hilltopper Hysteria.

Starks, a Scottsville native who’s listed at 6-foot-3, transferred to WKU from Volunteer State Community College, according to wkusports.com, where he averaged 16 points per game in 28 games.

“He’s a high energy kid,” McDonald said of Starks. “He almost walked on two years ago. Jim McDaniels brought him to us. We really wanted him to walk-on a couple years ago but he wanted to go to junior college and see how it would go. We’re happy to have him.”

Starks was named to the All-Tennessee Community College Athletic Association team after his second season at Volunteer State.

He started four years at Allen County Scottsville where he was named all-district and all-region during his career.
