The WKU volleyball team continues to rise to historic highs in the national polls.

The latest American Volleyball Coaches Association poll, released on Monday, has the Lady Toppers (17-1, 4-0 Sun Belt Conference) ranked No. 26 in the country, setting a new school record for highest national ranking.

After remaining at No. 29 for two weeks, the Lady Toppers rose three spots after beating Florida International and Florida Atlantic over the weekend.

The Lady Toppers received 53 votes in the poll, 27 more than No. 27 Kentucky, the only team to beat WKU this season. The team ranked ahead of WKU, No. 25 Ohio State, will face No. 1 Illinois this Friday.

WKU is riding a 14-match winning streak and has no other opponents receiving top 25 votes on its schedule.

The Lady Toppers will be in action next at 7 p.m. Tuesday against Middle Tennessee State, the defending Sun Belt conference champion, at Diddle Arena.
