WKU SGA recommends no term limits on Faculty Regent position

Taylor Harrison

At Tuesday’s Student Government Association meeting:

  • The SGA passed a resolution recommending the Faculty Regent spot on WKU’s Board of Regents not have a term limit. This resolution follows the University Senate’s recommendation to WKU made last week for the same issue. SGA waived the usual process involved in passing resolutions, which usually starts with a first reading one week followed by a vote the next week.
  • This senate meeting also marked the first reading for a bill concerning funding for Wednesday’s Cage the Elephant concert. This bill is scheduled to be voted on at next week’s meeting.
  • Senate elections are ongoing through 11:59 p.m. Wednesday. Twenty students are running for the 11 available spots.
  • An item brought up during officer reports was the possibility of providing iPads for students to rent out.
  • Upcoming events include the Oct. 1 football game against Arkansas that SGA is sponsoring along with tailgating that day.
