WKU volleyball defeats Virginia Tech at Kentucky Classic

LEXINGTON — The Lady Toppers won their first match of the day at the Kentucky Classic, sweeping Virginia Tech in three sets.

With the win, WKU improved to 4-1 on the year.

Both teams stayed competitive throughout the three sets, but WKU pulled away to win with scores of 25-20, 25-16 and 25-20.

Junior Jordyn Skinner and sophomore Paige Wessel each recorded 12 kills. Sophomore Melanie Stutsman contributed to the win with a final count of 27 assists.

WKU was given its first loss last night by Kentucky in the teams’ match of the Classic.

The Lady Toppers will be in action again this afternoon at 4:30 p.m. when they’ll be take on Ohio University in their last match of the weekend.
