WKU continued its non-conference dominance this weekend.

The No. 31 Lady Toppers (13-1) went 3-0 at the American University Tournament in Washington D.C., beating No. 32 Missouri on Friday, as well as American and Villanova on Saturday.

WKU swept every match they were in on Saturday after beating Missouri 3-1 on Friday.

“Villanova was a real challenge to us,” Head Coach Travis Hudson said. “They have one of the best defenses we’ve faced, and I think it really shows how much our offense has improved.”

The wins on Saturday increased the Lady Toppers’ winning streak to 10 matches, all against non-conference opponents. One non-conference game remains on their schedule, an October 18 battle at Cincinnati in a rematch of their NCAA Tournament match last season.

The Lady Toppers begin their Sun Belt Conference schedule at home against UALR on Friday and will host Arkansas State on Saturday night.

Hudson said he saw progress in his team in every game they played in this weekend’s tournament.

“I think a big key to this weekend was our continued improvement,” he said. “Every match we play we try to get better and I think we did just that.”
