The Nashville Sports Council announced Monday that recording artist Laura Bell Bundy will perform prior to the WKU vs. Kentucky football game on Sept. 1 at L.P. Field in Nashville.

Bundy, who grew up in Lexington, will play a free concert at Riverfront Park beginning at 5:30 p.m.

“I could not be more excited to sing for my fellow Kentuckians and Nashvillians at home in Nashville,” Bundy said in a release. “This is a hometown gig in every sense of the word! Come on out and let’s have a good time before kickoff!”

Bundy released her debut country music album in 2010 featuring her hit single “Giddy On Up” which peaked at No. 31 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.

Riverfront Park is located about a mile away from L.P Field, just on the other side on the Cumberland River.

The concert is scheduled to last from 5:30 p.m.  7 p.m., according to a press release from the Nashville Sports Council.

The game is set to kickoff at 8:15 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPNU.

“The free Pregame Concert at Riverfront will be a great opportunity for fans traveling from Kentucky and our local residents to enjoy some incredible entertainment and college football atmosphere prior to the Hilltoppers and Wildcats squaring off at L.P. Field,” Scott Ramsey, president and CEO of the Nashville Sports Council, said in the release.

Tickets are still on sale through the WKU ticket office. The cheapest ticket for that particular game is $28 in the “upper level” of L.P. Field, with the most expensive being $63 for “club” level seating.

The first 4,000 students who show up to the game will get in free with their WKU student ID.
