After amassing 17 kills in the volleyball season opener and earning a .531 hitting percentage for the weekend, WKU senior middle hitter Tiffany Elmore was named Sun Belt Conference co-Player of the Week, the Sun Belt announced on Monday.

Elmore, who was recognized along with Middle Tennessee’s Ashley Adams, was in action along with WKU last weekend in Nashville for the Belmont Invitational. Elmore’s efforts helped WKU sweep all three matches in the tournament.

“It’s always an honor to be named part of the all-conference team,” Elmore said. “It sets my standard high and I plan on moving up from there.”

Elmore had a good start to the season, tallying 17 kills on 28 attempts and earning a .607 hitting percentage against Sacramento State on Friday. She scored ten more kills in limited action against Murray State and Belmont University on Saturday.

After starting the 2011 season with a sweep, Elmore and the WKU volleyball team now have to prepare for the Kentucky Classic tournament this weekend in Lexington where they will play Kentucky, Ohio and Virginia Tech.
