Salmonowicz’ memorial to take place Monday night

Friends of a Garic Salmonowicz will come together on Monday to honor his life.

Salmonowicz, a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity and a WKU cheerleader, died Saturday in a car wreck on Interstate 65 South on his way to Nashville, according to an email from Riad Otoum, Commander of Sigma Nu.

The memorial will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Sigma Nu house located at 311 E. 14th Ave..

Visitation for Salmonowicz will be at Muir Brothers Funeral in Lapeer, Mich., from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, and again from 12 to 2 p.m. Wednesday. The funeral is at 2 p.m. Wednesday.

After pledging in 2007, Salmonowicz went on to serve as Honor Council Chair, Lieutenant Commander and Commander of Sigma Nu.

Salmonowicz was also a lance corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps. He graduated boot camp in January 2008 and attended Officer Candidates School in 2009.

Salmonowicz also trained soldiers in Uganda during the fall of 2009.
