Former Topper Thomas Majors has decided to take his talents up north.

Majors, a two-year starter at WKU, signed a free agent contract with the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League.

Majors started two years at linebacker at WKU after transferring from Northwest Mississippi Community College and led the team in tackles last season with 105.

He totaled more than 100 tackles during his two seasons at WKU and ranked fifth in the Sun Belt in 2010 with 8.75 tackles per game.

Majors helped lead WKU’s defense to the fewest yards allowed in the Sun Belt and was named a second team all-Sun Belt selection in 2010.

The Stampeders have won the CFL championship six times since the franchise began in 1935. Their first game will be on July 1 against the Toronto Argonauts.

According to WKU Athletic Media Relations, Majors is the only recent graduate that they’re aware of to sign a professional contract this year.
