The Lady Toppers’ season came to an end

Friday.

WKU (30-29, 10-17 Sun Belt Conference)

suffered its second loss of the Sun Belt Conference’s

double-elimination tournament against Troy, 7-2, eliminating them

from the tournament.

The Lady Toppers’ first loss came Wednesday in

the opening round, losing to Florida Atlantic, 4-3.

WKU bounced back on Thursday to defeat

Louisiana Monroe, 8-6, in eight innings to earn the second-round

berth.

But the Lady Toppers fell behind early on

Friday as Troy scored in the second and third innings to take a 2-0

lead.

WKU fought back in the fourth inning as

freshman shortstop Amanda Thomas smacked a two-RBI double to center

field to tie the game, 2-2. The double marked Thomas’ seventh RBI

of the Sun Belt Tournament

She paced the Lady Toppers’ offense on the

day, going 2-3 at the plate.

That was the only offense WKU would see all

day. Troy, however, scored five runs in the fifth and sixth innings

to ice the game, 7-2.

Sophomore pitcher Mallorie Sulaski took the

loss for the Lady Toppers, yielding six runs on ten hits in 5 and

1/3 innings of work.
