WKU took care of its own business on Saturday and left it up to Florida Atlantic to determine its fate for this week’s Sun Belt Conference Tournament in Monroe, La.

FAU lost to Florida International, which means WKU will be the No. 4 seed in the tournament.

The Toppers will meet FAU in the first round at 11 a.m. Wednesday in what will be the first game on the tournament.

The Sun Belt tournament will be held in a new round-robin pool play format.

“Pool A” will consist of No. 1 seed Troy, No. 4 seed WKU, No. 5 seed FAU, and No. 8 seed UALR. “Pool B” will consist of No. 2 seed FIU, No. 3 seed Louisiana-Lafayette, No. 6 seed South Alabama, and No. 7 seed Arkansas State.

Should the Toppers reach the championship game on Sunday, they’ll have a day off on Saturday, something Head Coach Chris Finwood said he wanted.

WKU will play UALR on Thursday and Troy on Friday in pool play.

The winners of each pool will meet in Sunday’s championship game.

In the event of a two-way tie, the team that won the head-to-head matchup will advance. Should there be a three-way tie, the highest seeded team will advance.
