REPORT: WKU could play home-and-home series with Vanderbilt

As WKU continues to compile future opponents for both football and basketball, it appears the Toppers might soon be facing another Southeastern Conference team on the gridiron.

The Tennessean in Nashville reported Wednesday that David Williams, vice chancelor of athletics at Vanderbilt, said the Commodores have tentatively “penciled in” a future home-and-home series with WKU.

Williams told the Tennessean that the games could possibly be played in 2012 and 2015.

Todd Stewart, WKU’s senior associate athletic director, told the Herald Thursday that the department doesn’t have any updates to provide on scheduling at this time, but that some may be coming in the near future.

“We have had discussions with many schools in an attempt to find the most compelling matchups for our fans in the years ahead,” Stewart said in an email. “Finding mutually beneficial dates is usually one of the biggest challenges. We hope to announce details on future schedules for football and basketball soon.”
