WKU and Arkansas State will have to wait until Saturday at 3 p.m. to finish their series opener.

That’s when the two teams will conclude Friday’s game, which was suspended at 10:45 p.m. with the Toppers and Red Wolves tied at one in the top of the 13th inning.

Arkansas State struck first in the second inning with a sacrifice fly from catcher Tyler Smith.

WKU responded with an RBI single from freshman designated hitter Scott Wilcox in the bottom of the inning.

Neither team has scored since the second inning, and the Toppers haven’t recorded a hit since the fifth.

Sophomore left-hander Tanner Perkins started and threw 6 and 2/3 innings, giving up one run on six hits.

Relievers Ross Hammonds and Phil Wetherell have combined to allow no hits and no runs over the last 5 and 1/3 innings.

The game was also delayed for 90 minutes in the eighth inning because of inclement weather.

The regularly scheduled Saturday game between Arkansas State and WKU will start 30 minutes after the suspended game is completed.
