Tom Millington, director of Study Abroad and Global Learning, said there were no WKU students in Japan when the record-breaking earthquake and subsequent tsunami hit Friday.

There are also no known members of the WKU community who had loved ones affected.

The 8.9 earthquake, which shook northeastern Japan, was the most powerful quake ever recorded in Japan, according to The New York Times.
