The Lady Toppers were able to produce some offense Sunday, but they still weren’t able to slow down a hot-hitting South Alabama team.

WKU (15-11, 0-3 Sun Belt Conference) fell behind 4-0 early, eventually falling 11-3 in Mobile, Ala.

The loss gave South Alabama (24-5, 5-2 Sun Belt) a clean sweep of the Lady Toppers, who were playing their first conference series of the season.

After starting the season 6-2 with a 1.21 ERA, sophomore pitcher Mallorie Sulaski recorded her second loss of the weekend Sunday.

She gave up seven runs — six earned — on seven hits in 2 and 2/3 innings of work. Sulaski was also the losing pitcher of record in WKU’s 8-0 loss to the Lady Jaguars on Saturday.

After totaling just four hits in two games Saturday, the Lady Toppers got seven hits and three runs in Sunday’s contest. All three runs came courtesy of a home run by sophomore Ciara Garcia in the third inning.

Overall, South Alabama out-scored the Lady Toppers 36-4 this weekend.

WKU next plays a home doubleheader Tuesday against Belmont, with the first game slated to start at 5 p.m.

The Lady Toppers’ next conference action will be a home series against Florida Atlantic next weekend.
