Broken fire alarm prompts MMTH closing on Monday

Mass Media and Technology hall will close at 4:30 p.m. on Monday because the building’s fire alarm isn’t working.

The building will open at 8 a.m. Tuesday, and repairs to the system are expected to be completed by 4:30 p.m. that day, according to a WKU press release.

WKU is asking students with classes in MMTH tonight to check with the department or course instructor.

The alarm was knocked out due to steam damage, according to an e-mail from Kathy Williams, office coordinator for the School of Journalism and Broadcasting.

“We are open until 4:30 because staff are making ‘fire watch’ rounds on all three floors,” Williams said in the e-mail. “That will not be possible this evening.”
