ESPN camera crews won’t be the only thing adding some extra excitement to WKU’s home game against North Texas on Saturday.

The Toppers will also honor players, coaches, cheerleaders and support staff from WKU’s 1970-71 Final Four team during halftime of the game, which begins at 3 p.m.

Eight players from the team are expected to be in attendance, including starters Rex Bailey, Jerry Dunn, Clarence Glover and Jim McDaniels. Reserves Terry Davis, Jeff Eckel, Danny Johnson and Chuck Witt will also be in Diddle Arena.

Three members of the coaching staff, including Head Coach John Oldham, will join the former Toppers.

WKU’s memorable run through the 1971 NCAA tournament included a win over Kentucky in the two schools’ first meeting and ended with an overtime loss to Villanova in the Final Four.

The returning group will attend a luncheon Saturday and will then speak to WKU’s current team at 1:45 p.m.

The game against the Mean Green will be broadcast on ESPN2.
