If you’re looking for that special Christmas gift for a friend or loved one, some local shops in Bowling Green may have something unique for you.

Mary Jane’s Chocolates

Mary Jane’s Chocolates has put out its seasonal chocolates for the holidays.

Some items include raspberry cream-filled Christmas trees, little Santas, snowmen and tin soldiers, peppermint bark, chocolate suckers and eggnog truffles.

While the store will not be offering any discounts during the season, all the chocolates are “reasonably priced,” said employee Marie Meszaros, who is also the daughter of the owner.

Every item bought is wrapped up nice so it can be given as a gift, she said.

Meszaros said all of the chocolate they make is preservative free and made with fresh ingredients.

“We make 85 percent of things here in the store,” she said. “People like to have something that’s made here.”

The store is at 1620 Scottsville Road.

Candle Makers

You can bring home some Christmas scents from the Candle Makers on the Square.

Some scents featured this season include roasted chestnuts, Christmas tree, orange gingerbread, malt cider and cinnamon and apple pie.

One scent will be selected each week as the “scent of the week.”

That particular fragrance will then be 10 percent off all week long.

The shop is at 433 Park Row.

Bowling Green Pipe and Cigar

Bowling Green Pipe and Cigar offers a wide variety of imported micro brews and cigars.

On Dec. 9 from 5 to 9 p.m. the store will be hosting a special on Oliva Cain and Nub cigars and founders beer specials.

The store is located at 434 E. Main St.

The Kentucky Museum Gift Shop

The Kentucky Museum gift shop offers a variety of items that could make a great gift such as Kentucky-made pottery, candles, hand-blown glass, books, jewelry and, of course, the white squirrel items.

Students and faculty members can receive 10 percent off their purchases every day throughout the year.

The shop will also have special discount prices marked on certain items for the holiday season.

The museum and gift shop are behind Rodes-Harlin Hall.
