WKU opens against old Sun Belt foe

Head Coach Mary Taylor Cowles said last season’s home loss to Louisiana Tech hasn’t been forgotten.

It was a game that the Lady Toppers led nearly the entire first half and by as many as 14 points with just more than 12 minutes to play, only to see it slip out of their hands in a 63-52 loss.

WKU gets a chance to avenge that loss tonight in its regular-season opener, except this time the Lady Toppers face the task of starting their season on the road.

“Our young ladies are well aware of how good Louisiana Tech is,” Cowles said. “It’s not an easy place to go to, but it’s a great matchup for us on the road to start the season.”

Tuesday’s game will be the 39th meeting between the two schools. WKU has won four out of the last five meetings but is just 4-14 when playing at Louisiana Tech.
