Starting Monday, contractors will blast twice a day for 15 days in order to clear rock at the site of the new Music Hall, according to an e-mail sent by project manager Kerra Ogden from Planning, Design and Construction.

The blasts will be at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. each day at the construction site behind the Fine Arts Center and Cravens Library, according to the e-mail.

The blasts will sound equivalent to a loud clap of thunder and the ground could tremble, according to the e-mail.

Before each blast, a warning will be given with a series of horn blasts, according to the e-mail.

During the blasts, vehicle and pedestrian traffic will be stopped along Normal Drive and surrounding sidewalks, according to the e-mail.
