Local fans of theater will have a chance to see a Broadway performance tonight in Bowling Green.

A touring Broadway group will be at the Capitol Arts Center tonight to perform “‘S Wonderful,” a musical based on the music of the Gershwin brothers.

George and Ira Gershwin were two songwriters and composers from the early 20th century.

They worked together to produce several popular Broadway songs and musicals, according to their official website, gershwin.com.

The show was not written by the Gershwin brothers, but it uses music and themes from many of their older shows.

It made its world premiere in Pittsburgh this June, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

The show is in the middle of the nationwide tour and will only be in town for one night, said Karen Hume, executive director of the Capitol.

Hume said the group has been on tour around the country for a while, and one of the show’s nine performers is Katie Mitchell, a WKU graduate.

The show will start at 7:00 p.m., Hume said.

Tickets to the show are $25 and can be purchased online or at the box office at the theater.

Hume said this may be the last chance for Bowling Green residents to see a show at the Capitol this year.

There will be no more big shows until the new year, though a few shows are planning on coming to the Capitol within the first few months of next year, Hume said.
