Jack-o-Lantern Jubilee this Saturday at Hobson Grove

And this is a tradition that Riverview at Hobson Grove, a historic house, is trying to keep alive by hosting their second annual Jack-o-Lantern Jubilee this Saturday.

“The Victorians didn’t celebrate Halloween, so we have invited people to carve pumpkin lanterns to celebrate the Victorians,” said Karen Anderson, the director of the event.

The event will be from noon to 2 p.m., and the cost is $10 per person.

Riverview is located at 1100 W. Main Ave.

During the celebration, children will be able to use construction paper and other crafts to create their own jack-o-lanterns.

“Last year we painted pumpkins, but that ended up a little messy,” she said. “So this year we are using orange construction paper and nicer things. So it will be a little craftier.”

Atwood Hobson and his wife, Juliet van Meter Hobson, previously owned Riverview, according to the city’s website.

It is Bowling Green’s only historic house museum, Anderson said.
