THURSDAY UPDATE: Cezar Guerrero said in a text message that he’ll make his college commitment decision at 9:30 p.m. CT Friday via his USTREAM account, which can be found here.

Guerrero added to get the word out. His decision will be an “exciting Mexican version” of Lebron James’ decision — except shorter.

UPDATE: Four-star point guard Cezar Guerrero says he’ll make a verbal commitment on Friday. Guerrero said he will not be at WKU’s season tip-off, Hilltopper Hysteria. He was originally scheduled to make an official visit to UNLV. Neither Scout.com nor Rivals.com currently lists Guerrero as holding a scholarship offer from UNLV.

In pledging to sign with WKU on Monday, Warren Central High School forward George Fant joins Wesleyan Christian Academy (N.C.) center Deng Leek and St. Patrick High School (N.J.) point guard Derrick Gordon – both Rivals three-star recruits – as verbal commits in WKU’s 2011 class.

Fant said Gordon had been one of his biggest recruiters, and he called Gordon to tell him the good news early Monday.

“In the past three weeks, he’s let me think by myself,” Fant said. “He hasn’t called me. Usually, he calls, but I called to let him know this morning. He was really happy.”

WKU’s most prominent remaining target is St. John Bosco High School (Calif.) point guard Cezar Guerrero, rated a four-star prospect by Rivals.com

The Toppers are also still courting George Rogers Clark forward Vinny Zollo and Christian County guard Anthony Hickey among others.

Fant said Guerrero was one of the first people he called with the news, and he said he’s now ready to do what he can to help round out WKU’s recruiting class.

“I called (Guerrero) and said, ‘I’m going. You coming?’” Fant said. “He said, ‘You’ll find out this week.’ Everything’s on him right now. He’s a great player. I played with him once, and the guy was tremendous. I’ve never seen anything like that.”
