“Girls Gone Wild” visit to Bowling Green has poor turn-out

When the Girls Gone Wild tour bus pulled into Berlenz Bar on Morgantown Road yesterday afternoon Rob Nowlin expected to have an unforgettable night.

But as the Bowling Green resident sat outside the bar, music pounding inside, he was concerned that the girls had forgot about the night.

“Wednesday night karaoke is more like Girls Gone Wild than this,” Nowlin said.

Girls Gone Wild was at Berlenz to promote the “Search for the Hottest Girl in America,” said Chuck Harris, Springfield Entertainment Group promoter.

He said that interested girls are asked to do interviews in the privacy of the tour bus.

“No drunk girls are filmed,” Harris said.  “We take five still photos to post on the internet, then American can vote for who they think is the hottest.”

He said contest winners are then featured on the reality show, Girls Gone Wild Presents: Search for the Hottest Girl in America, which airs on HDNet.

Harris, an Ohio native, said he understands that slow nights are a part of the business.

“When we come to Bowling Green we always have a good time,” he said.  “Sometimes it just takes a while for things to get going.”

Harris said he travels with the Girls Gone Wild tour bus to a different city every night in hopes of finding pretty girls that will help promote the company in a positive way.

“Everyone thinks Girls Gone Wild is a traveling strip-show,” he said.  “That’s definitely not what we are. We find the party and promote the party.”

But Bowling Green resident Lauren Kane was unsatisfied with the female attendance at the party.

“We paid $10 to get in here three hours ago and there are no girls inside yet,” Kane said at about 10 p.m.

Wild, willing girls may have not been filling the bar like patrons had hoped, but that didn’t keep the crowd from gathering.  By 11 p.m. the parking lot was full and eager party-goers were anxious for some action.

Danielle Hampton, a regular at Berlenz from Grayson County, said she was looking forward to the night for several days, but was disappointed about the turn-out.

“I’m here to see girls show their titties for free, there’s nothing better than that,” she said. “But there’s only one girl in there and she’s not doing anything.”

Dave Woodall, owner of Berlenz, said the slow start to the night was nothing to be worried about.

“It’ll get pretty wild, I’m sure,” he said.  “We’ll be here all night, the girls will be here too.”
