About 50 people showed their support for local and state Republican candidates at a Republican Victory Rally on Friday afternoon.

The crowd, gathered in the back room of the Warren County Republican Headquarters in Bowling Green, cheered as state representative Jim DeCesare, Warren County Judge Executive Mike Buchanon, State Senate candidate Mike Wilson and U.S. Senate candidate Rand Paul addressed them.

DeCesare said that every vote counts.

“This is our opportunity to take our state back, to take our country back and do what’s right,” he said.

Paul said he’s excited about how many people have supported the Tea Party movement and thinks the Republican party has a real chance of winning.

“There’s enthusiasm out there like I’ve never ever seen,” Paul said.

He said it’s important to transmit that enthusiasm into voter turnout in order for Republicans to be successful.

Scott Lasley, chairman of the Warren County Republican Party and associate professor of political science, said that Republican momentum has been growing steadily over the last few years in the county.

“This is a pretty exciting time to be a Republican in Warren County,” Lasley said.
