Oozeball benefits charity

“Down, Dirty, and Back for More in 2004” is this year’s motto for the Student Alumni Association’s 2nd annual oozeball tournament.

Ten teams will participate in the mud volleyball tournament that will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Western’s Agriculture Research and Education Complex.

SAA hosted oozeball in the late 1980s and early 1990s, but due to unknown factors, it decided not to host the event after that. The goal of re-establishing the tournament was to get students more involved with the SAA, the campus and the community.

“We feel this is a good way to end the semester with something fun,” said Andrea Haynes, communications coordinator for the office of alumni relations and annual giving.

A portion of the proceeds collected from the event will go to benefit the Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Bowling Green.

The 10 teams made up of students, alumni, faculty and staff will all be competing for the coveted “Golden Volleyball.”

“We want the Student Alumni Association to be able to build relationships between student and alumni through leadership experience,” Haynes said.
