Western competes in indoor track championships

Western’s indoor track team competed in the Sun Belt Indoor Championships at Middle Tennessee State over the weekend.

The men finished third while the women came in fifth.

MTSU won both the men’s and women’s competition for the fourth consecutive year.

Junior David Altmaier led the Hilltoppers by winning the 3,000 and 5,000 meter races. He was one of seven Western All-Sun Belt honorees.

Junior Raigo Toompuu also won two events as he won the shot put and weight toss.

For the Lady Toppers, freshman Nicole Jaggers won the mile and sophomore Angie Gardner won the weight toss.

Western’s outdoor season will begin March 20 at the Alabama Relays in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
