Tennis teams split matches
Western’s men’s and women’s tennis teams each faced off last weekend, with the men gaining a decisive victory at home and the women coming away with a mixed loss on the road.
On Friday night, Evansville beat the women 6-1. The match had its positives, as the Lady Toppers won the doubles portion 2-0.
The men fared much better with a 5-2 win against Indiana University Southeast Sunday night.
The Toppers’ next stop in their spring campaign is at 5 p.m. tomorrow against Campbellsville. Both teams will then play at Eastern Kentucky.
“Campbellsville beat us in the fall but I think we’ll have the advantage of home court this time,” coach Jeff True said. “On the women’s side EKU will be as good or better than Evansville, which will be a good test.”
