Wilderness emergency course offered

A nationally recognized Wilderness First Responder course is scheduled to visit Western next month.

Instructors from Wilderness Medical Associates will lead the 72-hour course which is planned for March 19-27 at the Agriculture Research and Education Complex.

A partnership between the Division of Extended Learning and Outreach and the Recreation and Park Administration program will host the course.

The Continuing Education course is structured to help participants who are miles from help and when 911 is not an option.

Participants will spend mornings in lectures and afternoons and evenings in rescue simulations.
