Homecoming festivities will not end Saturday night after the football game and the parties.

For the third-straight year, the Office of Alumni Relations will host a worship service at 11 a.m. Sunday, in Van Meter Hall.

People of all faiths are welcome at the service, which will last about an hour.

“A lot of people stay Saturday night and we wanted to give them another opportunity to return to campus before they go home,” said Beth Stamps, alumni relations office coordinator.

Five-time Grammy winner and Western alumnus Larnelle Harris will perform. He also performed at the two previous services.

Harris is an internationally known gospel and inspirational singer from Danville who has released nearly 20 albums.

Harris is also involved in his home church in Louisville, where he is a deacon.

Steve Garden, associate minister at Broadway United Methodist Church, attended each of the past two services and was impressed by Harris’ performance.

“Larnelle has just a wonderful voice and his songs were relevant to the people that were there and to the things that were on our minds,” Garden said. “He has a wonderful way of relating the meaning of the song to the people he sings it to.”

A combined choir from several Bowling Green-area churches will perform with Harris.

Alumni Relations hosts the service in conjuction with Broadway United Methodist Church and State Street Methodist Church. Both churches were involved with the service in the past two years.

A bus shuttle from Broadway United Methodist Church to Van Meter will run at 10:15, 10:30 and 10:45 a.m.
