Chingy at Diddle tonight

Hip-hop fans in the Bowling Green area have waited for rap artist Chingy to be “right thurr” at Diddle Arena.

That anticipation will be rewarded tonight when the Ying-Yang Twins join Chingy and a host of local acts at the Campus Takeover concert at 7 p.m.

Chingy, the headliner, has topped the Billboard charts with singles like “Right Thurr” and “Holidae Inn.”

According to Walk with John Entertainment, the promoter of the concert, between 800 and 1,000 tickets had been sold as of Wednesday afternoon.

Louisville freshman and Chingy fan Tiarra Taylor has high hopes for the show.

“I expect that he will sing a lot of songs,” she said. “I think there will be a good turnout.”

Taylor is making sure she will not blend in with Chingy’s many female fans.

“I am getting an outfit made,” she said. “Everyone will dress alike except for me.”

Walk with John Entertainment is sponsoring the concert.

Brian Walker, the concert promoter and cofounder of Walk with John Entertainment, said Chingy is just as excited as his fans to perform.

“He was excited about working with a small town,” Walker said. “This is only his third show in the States since his tour in Europe.”

He said it took two months to sign the deal to get Chingy here, but it was

worth it.

“He was somebody I really believed in,” Walker said. “I thought he would really bring something to Western.”

Walker said Chingy will perform a 45-minute set and the Ying-Yang Twins will perform for an hour.

The Ying-Yang Twins are known for their recent singles “Naggin'” and

“Get Low,” with Lil’ Jon and the Eastside Boys.

They have also topped the Billboard charts with their album “Me and My Brother.”

Five local acts will open the show: Cleazy, Street Made Records, Str8 Butta, Product of the Streets (P.O.T.S.), and Quiet Cat Productions.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
