Donation given to health students

A $240,000 donation from Norton Healthcare of Louisville has been given to Western to create the Norton Healthcare Scholars Program.

The scholarships will fund students enrolled in medical technology, healthcare information systems, respiratory care, pre-pharmacy, and both the associate’s and bachelor’s degree nursing programs.

Students getting the scholarships must agree to return to Norton Healthcare for the number of years they receive the scholarship after earning their degrees.

After students receiving the scholarship complete their degree programs and meet state requirements, they will be guaranteed jobs with Norton Healthcare.

The goal of the scholarship is to attract more students since there is a shortage of healthcare workers in the state.
