Holla back, Western gets wake-up calls

Hey Western, take care the next time you pick up the phone at 10 p.m. and dial up Papa John’s or Dominos in an attempt to satisfy that late night hunger beast.

That phone call you’re making may not be costing you anything, but your favorite university shelled out $1.2 million bucks for the campus’ new phone system. Included in that price tag is a long overdue caller ID system that will give you the ability to bust that jerk who keeps calling and asking,”Is your refrigerator running?”

Also at your disposal is a brand new wake-up call feature. Call it Western’s way of taking away the “my power went out and I overslept” excuse. But did we really need that anyway? If you need that wake-up call every morning, by all means, take full advantage of it. That call will put the $1.2 million to work. But we’re all adults. Set your alarm clocks, get out of bed and go to class.

Like the phone system, either you or somebody is paying for your education. Wake-up call or no wake-up call, you shoud be taking advantage of your education to the max.
