Crime brief

A group of students visiting for the girl’s Sweet Sixteen Basketball Tournament reported nearly $300 of items stolen March 28 from a school bus parked in the Center Street lot.
Capt. Jerry Phelps said that was the only bus parked in that lot; most of the buses were parked in DUC South Lawn or Diddle lot.
He said the bus was not locked and there was no damage to it. At this point in time there are no leads in the ongoing investigation, he said.
“They’ve had a few cars broken into in that lot, but not very many,” he said. “This is the first bus in ages that we’ve had broken into.”
Some of the items taken from the bus were clothing, stuffed animals, books, lotion, games and money.
