If you want to whine, I’ve got plenty of time

Brandy Warren

I love the fact that I live in a country where people can blame everyone they know for all the little, unimportant problems in their life.

Hear me out on this one.

It’s great because people are constantly complaining about or angry with a person they may or may not know.

And they always want someone to listen.

It’s great – at least if you’re me.

Let me explain. I’m the Herald’s opinion editor and I’m your girl if you need to whine and moan – just please don’t call and do the latter into the phone. I’ll call the cops, I swear.

Anyway, as part of my job, I create the opinion page twice a week. Sometimes, there’s a gaping white hole because people don’t write letters to the editor.

So then you have to hear from us – again. If you don’t write letters, one of us, who has 15 other things to do, has to fill the space. And when it comes to student issues, let’s face it, we know nothing about life outside Garrett Conference Center. I mean, one of the editors here (who shall remain nameless) didn’t even know Michael Jordan retired until a few years after it happened.

This is where you come in. I know you’re a student or employee here so you’re bound to have a lot to, well, whine and moan about.

The Herald will probably print something that makes you mad. Or we may do a story that you think completely misses the point.

Let me know.

Take a scrap of paper, write it down and send it in. Include your name, hometown and year in school (or title) and phone number. Try to keep your complaints to 250 words or less.

E-mail all bitter diatribes to [email protected] or herald@wku. edu, or drop them by the Herald office at 122 Garrett Conference Center.
