WKU Women’s Golf head coach Adam Gary announced in a press release on Friday that his team has added transfer student-athlete Kenlie Barrett from Sam Houston State University to its roster.

The Woodlands, Texas native spent three seasons with the Bearkats before transferring to WKU. Barrett was deemed the Southland Conference Freshman of the Year in 2019 after averaging 76.06 strokes over the course of the season.

Barrett played in three events during the COVID-19-shortened 2019-20 season, averaging 77.89 strokes throughout those contests. Barrett averaged 76.67 strokes over nine events and three tournaments during the 2020-21 season, shooting a 73 at the Huntsville Toyota Bearkat Invitational on April 12-13 to secure her best performance of the year.

Coming out of high school, Barrett was ranked the 14th best golfer in her class in the state of Texas according to the Junior Golf scoreboard.

“Kenlie will bring experience and depth to the team next year,” coach Gary said in a press release. “Her personality and work ethic will fit right in with our team. I’m looking forward to seeing her game reach new heights as a Lady Topper.”
