Conference USA released its baseball championship tournament bracket Sunday night via social media. The WKU baseball program (25-27), (15-17, C-USA) will travel to Ruston, LA to play the no. 17 Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles (35-17), (22-9, C-USA) on May 26 at 6:30 CT..
The Hilltoppers lost their four-game regular season series to the Golden Eagles 3-1 on April 23-25. WKU lost both of the first two games by a score of 6-5. Southern Miss shut out WKU 3-0 in the third game before the Hilltoppers won the series finale 9-4.
The tournament is in a double-elimination format and consists of eight C-USA teams. If WKU wins its first game the Hilltoppers will advance to play the winner of Louisiana Tech versus UTSA on May 27 at 6:30 p.m. CT. If WKU loses, it will play the loser of that matchup on May 27 at 3 p.m. CT.
The Hilltoppers lost five of their eight C-USA series during the season. WKU lost its last two C-USA series 3-1 to finish conference play.
