Starting tonight, the underpass at Russellville Road will be closed nightly from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. on July 6th-8th and through July 12th-14th due to a railroad project by CSX, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet announced on Tuesday morning.

“This is a CSX project, I’m not exactly sure what they’re doing,” KYTC District 3-Bowling Green’s public information officer Wes Watt said. “As far as I know, there’s no issues with the structure or the roadway itself, but CSX does a lot of maintenance work on their track all the time.

“They’ve got several other crossings in Warren County that they’re going to be closing and working on in the coming weeks as well.”

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has stated that U.S. 231 and Old Morgantown Road will be used as detours.

The schedules are subject to change depending on the weather. Any parking related questions go to Parking and Transportation Services at its phone number 270-745-2361 or at its email at [email protected].

“Well, the schedule that we’ve posted is what they’ve given us,” Watt said. “The weather could change the schedule or the roads could change it. We are just going by the schedule that they’ve given us.”
