Campus Chick-fil-A receives sustainability certification
August 27, 2021
WKU Restaurant Group celebrated its third Green Restaurant certification, which was awarded to Chick-fil-A.
Green Restaurant status is awarded by the Green Restaurant Association. To achieve this certification, a facility must earn a specific number of points across multiple categories, including water use, energy use and food sourcing, according to WKU News.
All three restaurants with the Green Restaurant Certification in Bowling Green are located on WKUโs campus. Prior to Chick-fil-A, Fresh Food Company became certified in 2019 and Hilltopper Hub became certified in June.
Leslie North, director of sustainability, said the possibilities of trying to have more WKU restaurants are always being considered, but the restaurants require a lot of management.
โGreen dining certified means that this particular location has gone and taken extra steps to be even more sustainable and its practices,โ North said.
