WKU senior Savannah Heckman was named the Conference USA Female Track Athlete of the Week.

She was awarded the honor after her impressive performance in the mile at the Commodore Challenge this past weekend in Nashville, Tenn.

Heckman logged a 4:51.49 mile time with a 19-second personal record and the third-fastest indoor female mile time in program history while finishing second in the event out of 14 runners. She logged the best mile time in the league by over nine seconds.

This isn’t the first time Heckman has received the award. In her fall cross-country season she became the first WKU women’s runner to win the C-USA Athlete of the Week for cross-country since 2014.

Heckman and WKU will be back in action this weekend at the Vanderbilt Invitational on Jan. 21-22.
