WKU Faculty Senate postponed the committee meeting scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 20. due to the university’s winter weather closure.

The meeting will now be held via Zoom at 3:45 p.m. next Thursday, Jan. 27.

Susan Eagle, president of WKU’s American Association of University Professors chapter, will present a report on Kentucky General Assembly’s HB 14 and HB 18.

Both bills seek to prohibit instruction and discussion “related to race, sex, and religion” in public schools or public charter schools, as well as “any form of mandatory gender or sexual diversity training or counseling.”

According to Eagle’s report, the AAUP has flagged similar bills across the country for their “broad, undefined restrictions” on public school curriculum.

Provost Robert C. Hale will introduce new business to alter several academic affairs policies that are now incorporated in the Faculty Handbook.
