WKU Softball’s junior Taylor Sanders was named Conference USA’s Player of the Week on Monday after her outstanding performance in the Hilltopper Spring Fling. This also marks the program’s second week in a row winning the award after fifth-year senior Bailey Curry received it last week.

The Hilltopper Spring Fling tournament was a wild success for WKU. Head coach Amy Tudor and her squad went 5-0 in this tournament and 10-0 over the course of the past two weeks, matching the program’s record of 11 straight wins.

Sanders went 8-for-16 over the weekend, hitting two home runs. She scored seven runs along with batting four RBI.

She now holds a career-best hitting streak of 12 games and 14 games of getting on base. She has now achieved the player of the week honor twice in her career as a Hilltopper. She was previously named the award after WKU’s sweep against UAB last season.

Sanders and her teammates can be seen back in action this weekend at the Ole Miss Classic in Oxford, Miss. The team’s first game is set for Friday at 1 p.m.
