WKU Men’s Golf place 7th in Sea Palm’s Invitational

WKU Golf junior Luke Fuller shot a 2-over 74, the team’s second-best result of the day, in the final round of competition at the Pinetree Intercollegiate hosted by Kennesaw State on Oct. 19, 2021.

WKU Men’s Golf competed in the Sea Palm’s Invitational March 9-11 and placed 7th in the field. The event was played at Sea Palms Golf Club at 6664 yards with a par of 71. 

The Hilltoppers sent six golfers to St. Simons Island, Georgia for the invitational. Western Carolina University hosted 20 different schools.

Each golfer played three rounds and the Hilltoppers finished with an overall combined score of +2. Davidson College placed first as a team with a combined score of 43-under par. 

The field consisted of 120 total golfers. Senior Luke Fuller led the Hilltoppers in the rankings as his total 52 hole score tied him for 11th place.

Fuller shot four-under in each of his first two rounds. After three rounds,he finished with a total score of 6-under par for the weekend. 

Redshirt sophomore Nic Hofman was the Hilltoppers’ second best golfer over the weekend. Hofman finished T26 with a total score of one-under par.

Junior Aaron Pha, fifth year Landon Carner, Senior Riley Grandstaff and junior Connery Meyer also competed in the event. Pha, Carner and Grandstaff all placed in the top half of the field.

WKU will head to Gulf Shores, Alabama for their next tournament March 26-28. The Hilltoppers will compete in the Craft Farms Intercollegiate event, which will be hosted by Southern Alabama University.
