WKU Men’s Golf places 3rd; Hofman earns C-USA Golfer of the Week

WKU Men’s Golf competed in Craft Farms Intercollegiate Tournament March 26-28 and placed 3rd in the field. The event was played at Craft Farms GC – Cotton Creek at 7127 yards with a par of 72.
The Hilltoppers sent six golfers to Gulf Shores, Alabama for the invitational. South Alabama University hosted 14 different schools for the tournament.
Each golfer played three rounds and the Hilltoppers finished with an overall combined score of +9. Texas State placed first as a team with a combined score of 3-under par.
The field consisted of 75 total golfers. Redshirt sophomore Nic Hofman fared very well in the tournament, shooting 4-under par for the weekend and tying for the second best score of all the golfers.
Hofman shot well through the first two rounds, shooting a 73 in round one and a 72 in round two. In the third round, Hofman posted an outstanding score, shooting a 67.
Hofman’s performance in the tournament earned him Conference USA Golfer of the Week; the league announced Wednesday, March 29.
Fifth year Landon Carner and senior Luke Fuller were the Hilltoppers’ next best golfers over the weekend. Carner and Fuller both finished tied for 17th place with a score of +3.
Freshman Hayden Warren, senior Riley Grandstaff and junior Connery Meyer also competed in the event. Meyer and Warren both placed in the top half of the field.
WKU will head to West Lafayette, Indiana for their next tournament April 15-16. The Hilltoppers will compete in the Boilermaker Invitational, which will be hosted by Purdue University.
