WKU Women’s Golf finishes 13th in The Bruzzy Tournament

WKU Women’s golf placed 13th in The Bruzzy tournament, hosted by the University of North Texas April 1-2. The 52-hole tournament was played at Dornick Hills Golf and Country Club from 5,976 yards with a par of 70 in Ardmore, Oklahoma. 

All 15 teams played 36 holes on the first day of the tournament.

Sophomore Catie Craig had the low round for WKU in the first round with a score of 73. Three Hilltoppers, senior Sarah Arnold, freshman Sydney Hackett and fifth year senior Kenlie Barrett,  posted 78’s in the first 18 holes.

In the second round, freshman Averi Cline fired a 73 to recover from her first 18-hole score of 83. Cline also posted the low score for the Hilltoppers in the second half of the day.

Following closely behind Cline by one shot in the second round, Craig, Arnold and Hackett all posted 74’s.

As a team, WKU sat in 13th place after the first 36 holes.

On day two of the tournament, Craig and Arnold both carded 73’s. Craig finished just one shot outside of the top 20.

Barrett dropped her score from the previous 18 holes by nine shots to post a 74 in the final round. Additionally, Hackett carded a score of 76 and Cline finished on an 82.

Collectively, WKU finished 58-over par for all three rounds of the tournament.

The Hilltoppers will return to the course April 13-15 to compete in the Conference USA Championship. The tournament will be hosted at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
